One of the things we started doing this week is working on updating some of the other graphic novel projects we’ve already got the story locked in for. The main reason is because I originally started working on a lot of them before Rage Quit Ink officially started rolling out which means that there’s some tonal and stylistic adjustments that needed to happen to make sure that everything is in actual alignment with what we’re doing. This is also something I have to do anyway for our FINAL_OFFICIAL_ISTG.png video series that we’re making so it’s ultimately killing two birds with one stone

The first one we started working on is SHE IS THE END (which you can read the full (apparently not so) final draft of the first episode here. All the dialogue and the story itself is locked in but the thing we really needed to do for this project specifically is work on getting it to commit fully tonally.
Before doing this project, I didn’t personally have much experience with actually writing for an 18+ crowd so I tended to pull my punches with everything (literally and metaphorically) but the thing with what we’re doing here is really committing to going ham and embracing the camp in what we’re doing which means that needed with every single story.
I’m not going to go into much detail because we’ll be diving into this in-depth for that video series but for now, here’s a look at some of the reworks that we’ve been doing:
Since these are all character driven narratives, our biggest focus for these have been to make sure that A.) Personalities shine through, 2.) Gags aren’t lost and C.) the framing of everything does a better job of setting up the kind of story that this is meant to be – especially on the first page since there’s a lot of the horror framing that’s just outright missing with how straight and head on everything is initially being originally.
Overall very happy with these changes! There’s going to be some general overall artwork updating on the earlier pages but the changes for now are for the more profound tweaks that are going to be more than just re-drawing.
