Catalyst Overdrive is one of the oldest projects that I’ve had in the works. I came up with Tamara back in 2007 and didn’t really start considering writing a story for her until about 2011. That started as a run of the mill cape styled comic before developing into a sci-fi video game concept in 2013. Then like with most ideas that I find interesting, I started taking the concept seriously and started developing it into the story that it is now: a story that in a lot of ways is my attempt at deconstructing the idea of a Hero and Heroism, especially in a world that seems to demand perfection when it comes to the recognition of excellence and what it means to achieve.

The story also dives into family trauma and the idea of breaking familial karma when it comes to trying to make yourself be seen as equal in a world that clearly sees you as less than in every capacity – including within your own family.

Oh also there’s jokes in it. I swear there’s moments when it’s meant to be funny.

Anyway, here are the first 8 pages to the first chapter. The story after almost 20 years is actually finalized. Now it’s just about getting it done. There will be some artwork that looks finished because this is an edit of a previous version that was incredibly close but not close enough for me to keep working on it to it’s finality and was also a lot of lighting and effects testing for the graphic novel so enjoy the medley that will be these WIPs
