Play Testing

Test Screening

Tip Jar

Surprise! When you’re making a game, it’s important to make sure that the game actually works and is playable, this is why from time to time we’ll be making open calls for people who are interested in play testing our TTRPG Ash and Flowers of Azraeém.

Every Open Call for Play Testers will differentiate slightly, however our absolute bare minimum non-negotiable requirements are:

  • That you are at least 18 years of age and are okay with playing a game that explores and contains mature topics such as Death, Rape (not depicted) and Abuse of Power.
  • Have read any accompanying adventure prompts;
  • Have reliable and consistent access to the internet and can guarantee showing up to the designated scheduling for the Play Testing;
  • Be comfortable playing over microphone (no video);
  • and Have access to a Discord

Dre will be sitting in each of the Play Testing sessions just to have immediate access to feedback on what’s happening. All other tools that will be used will be completely Free and will not require any kind of subscription service to enjoy the game. The only thing you’ll need is a healthy sense of curiosity and a good imagination since we can’t guarantee that all assets will be finished so a willingness to engage in Theater of the Mind styled game play may be required.

The game itself is set up to be DM-less and is also set up to be playable for both Solo RPG Players and groups of up to 4 Players. In order to better gauge interest, we’ll be openly providing the story prompt that will give you a clear understanding of what’s happening to better decide which group of play testing you’d like to be involved in. Each open call will have questions you’ll need to answer to verify that the prompt has been read thoroughly so that you understand what adventure you’ll be playing in.

Some play testing will come with pre-made characters while others will give you the opportunity to create your own. Any information regarding character creation will be made available prior to when you’ll play as you’ll be granted the opportunity to pre-develop your own characters in the situation in which non pre-made characters are required.

All play testing adventures are and will be considered canon to the overall story of Ash and Flowers of Azraeém, so these will give you a chance to get a better understanding to what’s happening as we move forward in developing the game.

When accepted, you’ll be receive an invite to our Discord server where you’ll need to agree to our community guidelines to ensure that we maintain a space that’s respectful for everyone involved.

Thanks for your interest in joining in on the fun. We look forward to seeing what comes from your play testing.

PLAYTEST #1

The Hunt For The Red Devil

Or The Play That Could Change Everything

Prompt: The King of Swancoast has put out an incredibly large bounty for anyone who is capable of returning the head of the Tiefling who is guilty of finding out secretive information that is pertinent to the security of the kingdom. Players will be tasked to tracking down Savari – the acclaimed Bard and Representative to the world renowned Vivid Aurora Circus and provide proof of her defeat in order to claim their treasure and favoritism with the king.

The Twist? Upon finding Savari, you will be given a choice: Engage with her in a duel in a fight to the death… or a chance to find out exactly what she knows that’s brought on such a massive bounty.

About the Adventure

This first play test is basically a chance to help make and/or break the game. Not only will your be given the chance to meet the game’s narrator and the Representative for the Circus – Savari (more information on what that means at a later time), but you’ll also have the opportunity to engage in the full scope of the game’s larger mechanics including:

  • Character Creation including a look at all 12 of our planned Pursuits – our versions of Classes. You’ll have your pick of playing anything from a dashing Swashbuckler who is fueled by the magic that comes from engaging in combat to an imaginative Summoner who is able to call on creatures from the lore that’s built into the fabric of cultures from all of Azraeém as well as a choice from the 12 planned options for Lineages;
  • A number of different encounter and activity types including Scouting, Tracking, Pursuit, and The Parley – our version of engaging in Duels;
  • A look at Performances and the power behind Bardic Magic (because yes, instruments actually do something here);
  • And a look into a number of planned activities from Crafting, to Rituals and even games that exist within the world of Azraeém like the commonly played fortune telling game – The Fateful Four
  • And more probably? Seriously. You’re basically playing the game with this round of play testing.

The Story Prompt

The story is a little under 2,000 words and should take anywhere between 7 to 10 minutes to read depending on your reading speed.
