I’ll admit that this set of updates has me buzzing a little bit so uh I guess sorry if this seems a bit scrambly since I’m trying to balance talking about the changes while not divulging too much for the video series.

Most of this most recent session of reworking was aiming to do was fix the stuff that has been personally driving me up the wall for this first episode while also working together to see what can be done to make the actual story itself a lot more clearly. We’re trying to operate within the mindset that we aren’t really getting another chance to set up the story. I think it’s easy to get caught up in the idea that you have way more time than you do when it comes to long form storytelling but the honest answer is we’re in a different world than we used to be. I know for me personally if I don’t feel like I have a strong understanding of what’s happening, it’s easy for me to tune out and move onto something else for a number of reasons – including the fact that the world itself is just more trying and it really does require a lot to keep me engaged fully in the midst of everything.

SO! For this set of updates, the main things we wanted to get through aside from my own personal grievances were:

  • Who is Selenia and her relationship to the Oté?;
  • What is her ability and how can we show that clearly without spelling everything out immediately;
  • How can we set things up for Episode 2;
  • And how the fuck do we tackle fight scenes because it’s not that I’ve been avoiding it but they’re definitely something I’ve not-not been avoiding (There’s no before and after …. yet).

I feel like that’s all I can really say about everything? Aside from the fact that I re-tackled Page 4 to add a bit more flavor to it. But honestly we were both very happy with how everything ended up turning out in the end – especially the first page of the fight scene which I’ll admit I’m still kind of stumped that I managed to do it this successfully. I’ve already started chewing on what improvements can be done just to make the movement/action a bit more clear but I’m still very proud of it either way.

ANYWAY! On to the pages!

And UH That’s it! I think we’re going to be taking a bit of a break. Honestly ever since starting this, we’ve learned that if we want to keep enjoying it, we really do need to take our time so we can be more conscious in our decisions moving forward.

Anyhoo thanks for reading! We’ll be seeing you when we see you!
